Greetings from our new School Principal, Paula Baxter

13 July 2021

I am delighted to join IPS Hilversum as the new School Principal in August 2021!

I bring three decades of educational practice and leadership knowledge honed from 10 diverse international schools across four continents. I have taught solely in three-programme IB schools since 1999, and I have been a school principal for the last 19 years.

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to build on Robert Westlake’s rich legacy and recognise that all of the school’s essential work is ongoing. I will continue to lead IPS with an unwavering focus that ensures your child is at the heart of every educational decision that is made at our school.

I am looking forward to working with IPS teachers at the Rembrandt, Frans Hals and Mondriaan campuses. In just a few days spent at school, it is clear that our teachers provide a happy, safe and supportive environment with a strong commitment to helping all children succeed whatever their background or abilities.

Learning is at the heart of everything we do, and I believe that the PYP philosophy and curriculum framework encompass not just the academics, but create passionate, well-rounded young people who are excited about learning and are empowered to make a difference in their own lives, their communities, and the world; it is the heart and soul of growing good humans. (Follow me on Twitter to see more about how this looks at school!)

Whether or not circumstances will align to allow IPS to revert to a ‘normal’ school year in August 2021 remains unclear, and in part beyond our control. No matter what August brings, at IPS Hilversum,  we will continue to prioritise an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary education that equips our students to navigate the world beyond our campuses.

I am proud to call IPS Hilversum my new educational home.

My best wishes,

Paula Baxter

School Principal
